Check Twitter Card tags

Fetch a public page or paste the head. The checker scores X/Twitter unfurl hygiene — not ranking folklore.

What this checker looks for

Twitter Card tags fill the X preview. They do not make ChatGPT cite you.

twitter:card

summary_large_image for tools and articles.

twitter:title

Name the page, not only the brand.

twitter:description

One sentence that says the job.

twitter:image

Absolute https 1200×630 image.

twitter:site

Optional @handle for the brand.

og:* fallback

X can reuse Open Graph if twitter:* is missing.

How to use the checker

Set the card type first. A pretty og:image on the wrong twitter:card still crops badly.

1

Check the live page

Fetch the public URL or paste the head from view-source.

2

Name card, title, image

summary_large_image plus an absolute https 1200×630 image.

3

Recheck after theme changes

CMS plugins overwrite twitter:* silently. Re-run after launches.

What a healthy Twitter Card usually includes

Twitter Card FAQs

Does a Twitter Card make ChatGPT cite my page?

No. twitter:* tags fill X, iMessage and some Slack unfurlers. Citations still depend on crawl access, answer-ready content and corroboration.

Do I still need twitter:* if I have Open Graph?

X can fall back to og:title, og:description and og:image. Set twitter:card to summary_large_image anyway so the card type is explicit, then add twitter:image for large cards.

What size should twitter:image be?

Use 1200×630 for summary_large_image, absolute https, under about 5 MB. Relative /og.png paths often fail on X.
